In New York City…still photographs and slideshow are of children from Syliah’s school P.S. 176 exploring playthings at a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 10, 2008 in “Syliah’s Playground dedicated to and named after Syliah. The foundation’s first initiative was to restore and renovate the kindergarten playground at Syliah’s school. The renovation of the playground was made possible with $350,000 in capital funding secured by Council Member Leroy Comrie (D-27 District) and is the culmination of a successful initiative led by the Syliah Volmar Foundation.
Said, Council Member Comrie, “… I am thankful to be able to play a small role in securing funding for this renovation, Future generations of children will enjoy this playground and their enjoyment will be a tribute to the memory of Syliah Volmar. I also want to thank Principal Arlene Bartlett and her staff, Assistant Principal Marcelle Hughley, as well as Cheryl Caddle and the parents of P.S. 176 for their support and efforts.”
